A couple of years ago I made a guide to teach japanese people to speak english. It was a 30 page illustarated basic guide to the english language staring my characters Emily and Keigh. The guide didn't sell at all and the only copies of some of the pages exist only on deviantart.

Long story short, I'm doing the opposite here in the states. I'm trying to make a manga which will teach americans to speak japanese but this time inculde a storyline to it. If any of you are reading this, your feedback would be greatly appricated to help me polish and fine tune this work.

Intro:
In this story, Nana is a college freshman doing a temp study program in Japan for a year. She speak no Japanese and has little knowledge of Japanese culture.

It starts of Nana walks down the street, slightly confused on how she is going to get to her class. She asks who she thinks is a kind stranger, but it is no other than Tanaka San. Tanaka is a Japanese ultra nationalist who loathes foreigners more than anything in the world. He feels it is his duty to “cleanse” the land of all foreigners by any means nessasary. So Nana asks the strange man in English for directions to the college campus. Enraged by the mere sight of a blonde foreigner, Tanaka responds by brutally attacking her with a giant Harisen (Paper fan) and chases her. While trying to escape the mad masked man, Nana runs into what seems to be a native English speaker (Keigh). Without hesitation Keigh agrees the save Nana from the enraged Tanaka. He produces a bottle of green tea and a packet of sugar. Keigh threatens (in Japanese) to sweeten Japanese tea which is most taboo for Tanaka. Tanaka then flees the scene and Nana is safe…. For now. The next day Nana is confronted by Tanaka again, and this time she wishes to defend herself from him. Nana takes out a bottle of green tea and a packet of sugar and threatens him to go away or she’ll sweeten the tea. Unfortunately, Tanaka can’t speak any English whatsoever and doesn’t understand what Nana is trying to say. Nana doesn’t speak any Japanese at this point and can’t get her threat across to Tanaka so she dumps the sugar into the green tea, mixes it and throws it on Tanaka. She figured that mixing green tea and sugar would melt him or something but it has the opposite effect. Green tea is supposed to be enjoyed straight without any sweeteners or add ons. Good green tea shouldn’t need any enhancement, even if it comes from a plastic bottle. Having that which is sacred to Japan tainted by an ignorant foreigner drove Tanaka absolutely berserk, and thus chases Nana with a giant Nihontou (a Katana on steroids) with the intent to disembowel her for her sin. Just when Tanaka corners Nana, Keigh comes to the rescue and fights Tanaka. After a short battle, Keigh ends it by sending Tanaka clear over the horizon. Keigh asks Nana what made him go berserk like that, Nana told Keigh she tried to do the same thing that he did yesterday and thought green tea and sugar was some sort of Tanaka repelant. Keigh explained to Nana that what she did was sign her own death warrant; sweetening green tea is the one thing that Tanaka will never forgive and he will stop at nothing to make her internal organs external. The only way to possibly save herself is to learn Japanese and apologize earnestly enough to beseech Tanaka’s forgiveness.
